We were so incredibly happy to hear that a Southern Indian food place came to Tucson! If you like Indian food, you have to come here. We spent our honeymoon in India, and this brought us right back to there! We got the dosas, some curries, paneer, lassies, and the tea, and it was all incredible. Go try it! You won't regret it. And the family that owns it are so kind!

I have had their food several times before writing this review and i moved from New Jersey (lived 20years) to Arizona 2 years ago and I can clearly tell you the food at pakka local Tucson is the closest I have had to true south Indian food in Arizona. After trying multiple local Indian restaurants this place brings the spice and flavor. If you like delicious mouth watering food go there. My favorites are the poori, chicken biryani and chicken tikka masala. Wife loves the butter chicken. The samosas are done with right amount kick and a quick snack for on the go. You won’t be disappointed, make sure you get medium spice for first timers. This is South Indian food so it’s more spice than North Indian food sweet to begin with.

The Hyderabadi biryani was absolutely delicious — it truly reminded me of the authentic flavors of Hyderabad. Thank you for bringing such genuine local taste to Tucson! The name “Pakka Local” perfectly matches the food — authentic, flavorful, and just like home. Highly recommend this food truck to anyone craving real Hyderabadi food!

There's a fully south Indian place in Tucson now!!!!! I could not be happier as the only south Indian option till now was the limited dosa menu (but delicious) at Spice Garden in Marana. They owners are originally from Andhra Pradesh in South East India and moved here from Phoenix a couple months ago. The menu on the window where you order is the correct current one (the other one on the ground was more limited and listed parotta which they said they may bring in the future but don't currently have) Note that the descriptions google added to the photos I posted are wrong. They have lots of vegetarian and vegan options. I tried the Veggie manchurian balls which tasted fresh, soft and delicious. They are egg free and dairy free. They didn't ask me what spice level I want regardless of having levels (a pet peeve of mine) and I forgot to ask about that and they served me medium spice. I would order at a higher spice level next time but it was still well spiced and delicious at the medium spice level. I also got the punugulu , a common street food in Andhra Pradesh, which are donut like balls made from the same fermented batter dosa and uttapam are made from. they are made with rice and urad dal beans, not wheat and should be gluten free in terms of the ingredients they contain. It was served with peanut chutney with spices (dairy free and egg free). I asked for Tamarind sauce. They also have vegan Mirchi Bajji, dosas, samosas and more. The mysore bonda has yogurt in the balls and the mint chutney has dairy as well. The food was very fresh and delicious. I love south Indian food so much and couldn't be happier to have an Authentic Andhra Pradesh food truck in Tucson now! Such a fun surprise for me and I can't wait to go back and try additional dishes. There are several food trucks there but all others were closed when I was there at lunch time on a Sunday. Not a ton of shaded seating options. There was an older man who didn't seem to speak English and two younger man. One of the younger man in the food truck spoke English better than the other. I hope they add additional menu items. I highly recommend this one! My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!
