My partner eagerly brought me here for lunch and I'm so glad he did! Lines can get long and luckily we beat the rush, but the staff are great at getting the line moving. North of SF, this is the best Mexican spot. The food is comparable to taquerias in the Mission. Definitely worth making the trip out to try.

Petaluma has a lot of Mexican food options… but if I’m being honest, El Roy’s Express at the Fairgrounds is the only one we consistently choose. Last night we ordered the Tacos Dorados and a chicken burrito, and as always, everything was so good. We also regularly get the fajitas and Al Pastor tacos…both are favorites in our house. Also, their shrimp sauce… it’s AMAZING. Their salsa is also so fresh and flavorful. It hits every time. Even when the line is long (which it often is because they’re so popular), it moves fast and is absolutely worth the wait. The people at the counter are always friendly and helpful, and the food comes out hot/fresh. What I also appreciate is that it’s still affordable, even with how popular they’ve become. Quality, flavor, fast service, and great prices…five stars all day. 🌮🔥

Ever since a friend introduced me to El Roy’s Express, I’ve been absolutely obsessed. I come here at least three times a week—that’s how good it is. I don’t claim to be an expert on Mexican food, but this place is just so, so good. Every time I drive by, there’s always a long line—and now I totally understand why. They’ve been voted the best food truck in the Sonoma area for 10 years in a row, and it’s well deserved. Like I said, I’m a bit of a Mexican food newbie, so I usually stick with tacos—and you really can’t go wrong here. My favorites are Cabeza and Shrimp. The cabeza (beef cheek) is incredibly tender, juicy, and rich without being greasy. The shrimp is always perfectly cooked—never overdone or tough—and the sauces pair with it beautifully. I always load my tacos with extra cilantro, onions, and guacamole, which makes them even better. They also have multiple locations, so it’s easy to find one nearby. And the value is insane—most tacos are under $4 each. Cheap, fresh, and incredibly flavorful. Honestly, it’s hard to beat. One tip: if you’re going during a busy time, it’s a good idea to call ahead and place your order, so you can just pick it up when you arrive. Otherwise, you might wait 15–20 minutes. All I can say is: if you haven’t tried El Roy’s yet, you absolutely should. You won’t regret it. 🌮🔥

The woman taking the order freaking rude I was asking what do you put in the Taco that I was ordering. Looks like that irritated her I also ask for a drink and she just ignored us. The food is just ok. Nothing Fancy.
