Tonight I placed a simple phone order for two birria taco orders. I specifically asked if the tacos came with beans. I was told no, so I then clearly requested two orders of beans to go with them. Simple, right? Apparently not. I drove from Palmview to McAllen, paid almost $30, and didn’t bother checking the bag because I foolishly assumed that two grown adults running a restaurant could handle an order this basic. When I got home, the consomé was completely missing. I called back to find out what happened and was told—without hesitation—that I had asked for beans instead of consomé. That is absolutely false. I never said that, and anyone familiar with birria knows consomé is the whole point. When I asked how they planned to fix their mistake, I was told I could come back tomorrow to get two consomés… without the tacos. Let that sink in. Consomé. By itself. After I already paid and drove out of my way. Laughable. I was also told they were closed and that was “the best they could do.” When I asked to speak to someone above her, she smugly informed me that she was the owner. If that’s true, that’s even worse. A business owner who won’t stay a few extra minutes to correct their own error, blames the customer, and offers a solution that makes zero sense deserves every bad review they get. Tomorrow I’ll be calling another location to confirm whether she actually owns this place. If so, my next call will be to the Better Business Bureau. Judging by how dead this location usually is, I can see why. Reviews like this don’t help—but neither does terrible service, zero accountability, and treating customers like they’re the problem. If you decide to eat here, check your order before you leave because they will not.

⸻ We visited Taquería Te Peque Food Truck on a Saturday night and left disappointed. Service felt rushed and inattentive. When paying, the waitress simply gave a total—no one mentioned a 15 % gratuity or that two different totals applied depending on cash or card payment. We only discovered both the automatic tip and the two different totals after we got home and reviewed the receipt. Even if this is standard policy, it should be explained up front so customers know what they’re agreeing to. The lack of transparency left a bad impression, and we don’t plan to return.

Go somewhere else. Seriously. They got our food wrong. The order taker clearly didn’t know how to work their system and had to ask the cooks how to use the point of sale system. I could tell the lady didn’t know what she was doing. I had to repeat my order to her and after the 30 minute wait, they lost my ticket, were out of papas and quickly rushed to give me my order. I come home and find they gave me a completely different order. I ask for 3 tacos de asada and two de trompo, all in tortillas en aceite. How hard is that? I got 5 tacos de carne asada in tortillas de mano. No mammes. Owners! Get 👏 your 👏 act 👏 together 👏

Response from owner

We apologize for getting your order wrong, but this past week we had a 2x1 on all Al pastor taco orders, and we had more customers than usual and a lot of big orders, we told you about the waiting time and you said it was ok, this is our business phone number 9567771800 you can call us anytime and we will get you a correct order with the papa that at the time we didn’t have. Once again we apologize and hope you give us another try, we are a family business trying to do everything right, but things happen
