The papas are fantastic. Large portions of anything you order. Two people in our group got burgers, and they were huge! I'm definitely looking forward to going back and trying the burgers.

Went and spent $26 on three things. The wait time is quite some time to order, then the prep time is another wait. Had a large quesadilla pastor; the tortilla seemed medium size to me, the amount of grease tho was definitely a large portion. Did not understand why there was so much grease, could not finish a half because of the amount of grease even after removing it fully from the plate. The torta was supposed to be mixed but there was noting but pastor; thought it would come with tomato and lettuce because it’s a torta but all it was just avocado. The prepared beans had nothing special in the beans like I had before(charro beans) just beans the meat and cheese added. Overall the taste was alright, I did add a bit of salt for some flavor. Was pretty annoyed about them loosing our ticket and it taking even longer. The guy taking the order was friendly but was definitely trying to take your order and move onto the next.

Another TikTok recommendation! The meat portion and cut is excellent. However, they lack flavor. Quality over quantity always wins. I'm not a fan of the tortillas, they leave an aftertaste. The seating area is tiny.

The tacos had great flavor, the seasoning on the meat was perfectly balanced. I think it's a mix of pork belly, maybe? It was juicy and well-spiced without being overwhelming. Only thing missing for me was the pineapple. The only downside was the tortillas. They were a bit too oily, which made them slightly soggy and took away from the overall texture. If the tortillas were warmed without so much oil, these tacos would be close to perfect. Overall, I’d still come back for the flavor alone. Just hoping for a LOT less oil on the tortillas next time!

I went to Tacos La Sultana on a late Tuesday night around 10 pm after eyeing this place for months. It's one of Houston's more talked-about East End taco spots, known for Monterrey-style tacos and especially their trompo. Trompo is pork cooked on a vertical spinning rotisserie, similar in technique to shawarma, and this place is known for serving it with pineapple. That's really what drew me in. Tacos La Sultana is a food truck, but if you want to dine there, seating is available inside the front of The East End Bar next door, which has a casual dive bar vibe. It's very laid back and informal. [TACOS] +Trompo Tacos for $2.25 each - I ordered two on corn tortillas. They came topped with large chunks of pineapple and flat slices of pork shaved from the trompo. The flavor was solid and the pineapple added a nice sweetness, but I was hoping the pineapple would be spinning on top of the trompo and shaved thinly into the taco rather than added in thicker pieces. The tortillas were very oily, which made these extremely messy and hard to eat cleanly. Good overall, but not amazing. - 3.5/5 In addition to the tacos, they also provided a second plate with caramelized onions, lime, a baked potato, and a plastic bag filled with extra onions and cilantro. There were two different salsas in squeeze bottles on the tables as well. Overall, Tacos La Sultana is worth trying if you're in the East End and curious about Monterrey-style trompo tacos. The price is great and the flavors are good, but for me it wasn't worth a 20-minute drive across town. I'd stop by again if I were in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
